IABC celebrates long standing members this Member Month: Veronique Loewen

Member Month is a time when we celebrate our members—especially those who have shaped our community for so many years.

Veronique Loewen has been an IABC member for 12 years! Veronique is the Manager of Communications at Orano Canada and owner of Verolingo Communications. IABC Saskatoon Director of Communications Kailey Lavallee interviews this lifelong member and finds out what keeps her returning.

Q: Veronique, what is the best thing about being an IABC member?

A: The best thing about being an IABC member is being able to tap into an impressive network of communicators and having up to date resources at my fingertips.

Q: Tell me about your favourite memory or best experience being an IABC member?

A: My favourite memories of being an IABC member include attending the IABC West Region Conference in Kelowna and also my time on the local board as co-Chair of Professional Development a few years ago. I made some great friends through the board work and was able to contribute to our communication community.

Q: So why have you continued to be an IABC member?

A: Being an IABC member helps me to remain connected and relevant to the latest issues and trends in our profession. It provides me with a supportive group of professionals to discuss ideas, issues and seek support.

Q: How has being an IABC member helped you in your career?

A: Being an IABC member has helped me remain up to date and relevant in my profession. And, obtaining the CMP designation has provided me with an added credential, which has helped solidify in the business community that Communications is an actual profession—that was not always the case.

Q: Do you have any tips for new members to make the most out of their membership?

A: Don’t be scared to contact other communicators for advice, help and brainstorming ideas, we’re a friendly bunch. Use the IABC online articles, videos, webinars library, it’s full of knowledge and ideas.

Thank you for sharing your story with us, Veronique! We hope you enjoyed our interview with Veronique as much as we did. Stay tuned for other interviews with local communication professionals this Member Month! Email Kailey to share your story to be featured in upcoming Member Month spotlights!
